About Us

Prangarik Pathshala is a SCHOOL of AGRICULTURE founded to inspire,educate, empower/train & engage farmers including young men and women in technology based commercial agriculture/agro-entrepreneurship and produce agricultural entrepreneurs & competent human resources in agriculture sector. It promotes small, medium-sized and large-scale enterprises in agriculture sector through technical education, knowledge transfer, vocational training/skill development, agricultural extension services,market linkage, innovations in agriculture, modernization, mechanization and application. It attempts to contribute for the creation of jobs through the promotion and development of agro-enterprise and agri-business.

It focuses on environment-friendly, modern technology and ICT based sustainable and commercial farming. It attempts to train and support YOUNG people, rural people (people living below poverty line and small-scale farmers) to adopt modern farming techniques, increase their production/productivity,enhance quality of their production, ensure food and nutritional security, develop a sustainable agri-business/ afro-enterprise and finally to raise their income level, improve livelihoods and living standard. It attempts to empower & support the poor, marginalized, under-served, disadvantaged and displaced people and rural farmers to reduce poverty. It works to transfer knowledge and entrepreneurial skills to and develop the capacity of smallholder farmers or producers to enhance their competitiveness. It develops capacity of agriculture extension workers, agribusiness, service providers and local actors to deliver cost-effective services and products more efficiently to farmers or producers.In this context, it works in partnership with/with the support of relevant stakeholders (governmental agencies, non governmental agencies, international agencies, community based organizations, private sectors, banking/financial institutions and people).

At least 100,000 young agro-entrepreneurs in Nepal

Our Achievements & Impacts:

  • More than 200 training sessions on commercial farming/agro entrepreneurship in different areas (vegetable farming/production, organic compost production, post-harvest management, goat farming, livestock farming, poultry farming, bee keeping, fruit production/farming, mushroom farming, agro-marketing & enterprise development, agricultural cooperative development, management and operation) have been conducted at its training hall (classroom) and field/practical set-up
  • More than 4555 Young men & women (emerging commercial farmers) including smallholder farmers have received technical education, vocational training on modern and commercial farming/agro-entrepreneurship
  • According to our study, around 70 %-trained farmers are engaged on commercial farming. It has created more than 4500 jobs (each commercial farmer has provided employment opportunity to at least 1 youth). Around 10 %-trained farmers have migrated in gulf countries for foreign employment. Around 10%-trained farmers are engaged on subsistence farming for their own consumption like terrace farming, vegetable gardening. Around 8%-trained farmers have done nothing. Around 2%-trained farmers, who were engaged on commercial farming, have changed their profession.
  • 23 emerging commercial farmers have taken counseling, guidance and technical assistance to register an agro-based enterprise/company in Department of Cottage and Small Industries (DCSI) and Office of Company registrar, under Ministry of Industry
  • Farmers (young men and women including smallholders and emerging commercial farmers) from all the 77 districts have benefited from our services
  • More than 7000 young men and women have taken proper guidance, counseling, advisory services and direct/indirect mentorship on agriculture, agro-entrepreneurship & agri-business development
  • More than 2000 young men and women have been facilitated & supported to be agro-entrepreneurs & agri-business men/women
  • More than 2500 smallholder farmers have been supported to access improved agricultural inputs especially quality seeds, organic fertilizers, organic compost etc.
  • Emerging commercial farmers of more than 50 districts have been technically assisted and linked with an agro-technology companies (G7 agriculture Pvt. Ltd., Green Agriculture Pvt. Ltd.) which resulted in the construction of more than 500 poly tunnel houses with installment of drip irrigation technologies in 50 districts
  • More than 3000 farmers have been facilitated and technically assisted for market linkage (Including contract farming) through our market facilitators
  • More than 500 rural farmers have been organized into agricultural cooperatives
  • 6000 books on commercial vegetable farming, goat keeping, poultry farming have been published and distributed
  • 23 emerging agro-entrepreneurs/commercial farmers have been linked with Bank & Financial Institutions, SME venture fund, start-up accelerators, investors for access to capital/finance
  • More than 100 commercial farmers based in urban areas have been technically assisted to have access to farm land on lease, in peri-urban areas
  • More than 300 rural farmers have received trainings and technical assistance on farmers’ group formation, agro-cooperative development, management, administration, governance and operation
  • 1 commercial farmer has been facilitated and assisted technically to take Intensive vegetable production training in Israel.
  • More than 200 Internally Displaced People received hands-on training on commercial vegetable farming and have been helped to access quality agricultural inputs and modern technologies (improved drip irrigation, plastic tunnel house construction)
  • 40 Young social mobilisers and community leaders from different districts have received one week-Trainings of Trainers (ToT) on micro-enterprise development
